Ministers Celebrate Peamount Centenary

Local F.G. Minister Frances Fitzgerald was joined by Minister for Health Dr. James Reilly at the launch of centenary year celebrations for Peamount Healthcare.

“I was delighted to help launch the 100 year celebrations in Peamount today. Minister Reilly and I had a very useful meeting with members of the Healthcare Centre’s Board and a tour of the centre itself,” explained Minister Fitzgerald.

“It was great to meet so many of the patients who are receiving such fantastic care here in Peamount and the men and women who use the rehabilitation and occupational therapy services offered in the gym. This centre is a fabulous resource for the communities of Newcastle, Rathcoole, Saggart, Clondalkin and Lucan and I was honoured to participate in their celebrations,” continued Fitzgerald.

“Peamount Healthcare has a schedule of events organised throughout the year to celebrate their 100th year. This includes a community festival which will be held in June to coincide with a visit from President Higgins. I look forward to continuing to support this centre in the years ahead and would like to pay tribute to the dedication of the staff and the vision of the Centre’s Board,” concluded Minister Fitzgerald.

Peamount Healthcare was founded in 1912 as a Tuberculosis Sanatorium and has developed into a centre of excellence for the quality care it provides today. In celebrating its centenary tear Peamount Healthcare’s core values, standards of care and responsiveness to emerging needs remains in place and will provide a solid foundation for the continuous development of the Centre. Minister’s Fitzgerald and Reilly were joined by Mayor Jones, Deputy’s Tuffy and Keating as well as Councillors Therese Ridge, William Lavelle and Emer Higgins at the event.
