“It is a true honour to be here tonight to open this fantastic new pharmacy and pay tribute to my good friend Brenda Kelly, whose vision, commitment and business skills have delivered a fabulous new facility for the people of Saggart,” Minister Fitzgerald said at the official opening night.
Kelly’s Pharmacy opened its doors in 1985 and since then it has been serving the people of Saggart, adapting to cater to their needs and demands. It’s Managing Director, Brenda Kelly, was one of the first people to ever complete the Bachelor of Pharmacy degree course in Ireland. The opening night celebrations were supported by Brenda’s family, Uniphar, local businesspeople and local residents in Saggart, including Fr. Enda Cunningham the Parish Priest.
“Saggart has changed dramatically in the past few years. With new houses came new people and new businesses. A selection of restaurants have opened their doors, the Spar shop has been refurbished and this new shopping centre was constructed….Saggart even has its own set of traffic lights now! Kelly’s Pharmacy has developed with the village and in its new state-of-the-art premises it will continue to serve the growing community,” said Minister Fitzgerald.
Kelly’s Pharmacy boasts an attractive cutting edge design, friendly professional staff and offers a huge selection of cosmetics and products as well as prescriptions.
“With the support and encouragement of her husband Stan and her four daughters Darina, Treasa, Roisin and Caroline, Brenda grew her business into one of Saggart’s most respected centres, where people come for advice, assistance and sometimes just a chat. Her pharmacy and its staff pride themselves on delivering an efficient, confidential, professional and friendly service to the Saggart community. Tonight, we see the culmination of all those years of hard work and commitment – tonight we officially open a chemist three times the size of what it began as and I have no doubt that while the premises is new, the ethos won’t be,” continued Minister Fitzgerald.
“Brenda is a role model for female entrepreneurs thinking about starting something new. Her story is one of success and encouragement and with a fulltime staff of five, all women I might add, open six days a week, I have no doubt that Kelly’s Pharmacy will continue to flourish,” concluded Fitzgerald.
