Fitzgerald & Delaney welcome Varadkar to Round Towers Gathering

Round Towers GAA Club Chairman Councillor Tony Delaney was on hand to welcome local Minister Frances Fitzgerald and the Minister for Transport, Sport and Tourism Leo Varadkar to the Round Towers Gathering last weekend. The event, held in conjunction with the Clondalkin Festival, was organised to mark 2013 as ‘The Year of the Gathering’ and showcased old footage and photographs of players, trainers and coaches involved in the GAA Club throughout the ages.
“It’s great to see our local clubs playing their part in The Gathering and I was delighted when Minister Varadkar agreed to come out and attend the event in the Round Towers GAA Club. The event detailed the history of the club showcasing old footage and black and white photographs which offered people a trip down memory lane,” said Minister Frances Fitzgerald who attended the event with her Cabinet colleague Minister Varadkar.

Cllr. Toney Delaney, Round Towers GAA Club Chairman, said; “it was a great social occasion and a fantastic opportunity for our members to meet Minister Varadkar and show him the commitment local to the Towers. A lot of work went in to creating our very own Round Towers archive which was displayed on the night and well done to all involved in that.”

Minister Varadkar made a short speech on the night congratulating the Club on the opening of their new pitches and for their initiative in organising their very own Gathering.
