Local T.D. and Minister for Children & Youth Affairs Frances Fitzgerald recently presented the Exchange House National Educational Achievement Awards, which celebrates Travellers from the 32 counties of Ireland who have recently completed the Junior Certificate, Leaving Certificate, GCSE, A Level examinations or Third Level Courses, and recognises the hard work and commitment shown by the recipients in reaching their goals. Minister Fitzgerald said she was "very proud" to tell the award winners, including Clondalkin resident Simon O'Donnell, that they were "a great credit to their communities and to this nation. Education is the single greatest vehicle for you to transform and improve the prospects for yourselves, your families and your communities. I hope and expect that you will take these marvellous achievements and use them as a springboard to go on to even greater things."
