Local TD and Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Frances Fitzgerald, supported the Ciarán Carr Foundation’s 10 km Fun Run/Walk on Saturday 19th October, and praised the “amazing effort of everyone who made the event a wonderful success”.
The Fun Run / Walk held in Corkagh Park, was to raise funds to provide Defibrillator Units in all 26 schools in the Clondalkin area. Speaking at the event, Fitzgerald said the day was a “fantastic show of support for the Ciaran Carr Foundation and a credit to all involved. I know The Laurels Charity Crew helped organise many aspects of the event, Round Tower GAA members showed their usual community spirit, as did all the volunteers and participants who did a great job on the day”.
“Above all,” Fitzgerald added, “I wish to thank the Carr family. They experienced a tragedy that no family should have to endure – the loss of their child. Yet they found the strength and courage to create this wonderful charity which seeks to ensure that other families don’t have to go through the same thing. It is inspiring to see the work they are doing to raise awareness and help other young people in the area,” she concluded.
