Minister Fitzgerald welcomes new Mid-West Dublin school building projects

New builds to begin in Griffeen, Newcastle and Saggart in 2014.

Local TD Frances Fitzgerald, Minister for Children & Youth Affairs, has today (29 November) “warmly welcomed the announcement of 3 vital new school projects scheduled for 2014 construction in the Dublin Mid-West area”.

“As a local TD, I am intensely aware of the importance of increasing school places in these areas, given the population growth that has been a constant feature of the past decade,” she said.

“Likewise, as Minister for Children & Youth Affairs, I have worked with my Government partners to ensure that all relevant policy choices are informed by the goal of giving our youngest citizens the best possible opportunities in life. Having more schools and – crucially – more school places, is a key part of that goal.

“The approval of funding for Griffeen Valley Educate Together NS, Naomh Mhuire NS Saggart and Caislean Nua Liamhna NS (St Finian’s) Newcastle is part of the Government’s Five Year Plan delivery, and details of the progress of all major school projects listed in the Five Year Plan will continue to be maintained and updated on the Department of Education’s website, www.education.ie”
