Fitzgerald welcomes €58,000 for redevelopment of Clondalkin old swimming pool as new community space

Frances Fitzgerald TD, local TD for Dublin Mid West and Minister for Children & Youth Affairs, has today welcomed the allocation of €58,824 for the redevelopment of Clondalkin’s old swimming pool as a new community space.
The funding is being provided through the ‘SportNation’ initiative, jointly run by the Department of Transport, Tourism & Sport and Irish Public Bodies (IPB) Insurance. The objective of the initiative is to increase opportunities and access for people to engage in sports on an inclusive basis through the provision of sports facilities on Council property.

Minister Fitzgerald stated: “I warmly welcome this funding allocation which has been announced today by my Fine Gael colleague Michael Ring TD, Minister of State for Sports.

“This funding will ensure that vacant premises in the heart of Clondalkin can be redeveloped as an important resource for the local community, providing much-needed activity space for local community and sports groups.

“I wish to commend South Dublin County Council for their proactive approach in seeking to redevelop the old pool. As local TD and Minister, I will continue to work with the Council and the community to support community activity in Clondalkin.”
