Minister launches National Pyjama Day in Lucan Creche

Local TD Frances Fitzgerald, Minister for Children & Youth Affairs, last week officially launched National Pyjama Day to raise funds for the Irish Hospice Foundation at Lucan’s Learning for Life crèche.

Minister Fitzgerald said:

“I am delighted to have launched National Pyjama Day in Lucan. This important annual fundraiser is now in its 9th year and has to date raised over €1.5 million for children’s charities in Ireland. The event sees children in day care and preschool facilities throughout the country wearing their pyjamas on a specific day to help raise much needed funds for a selected charity.

“Under a five-year programme the Irish Hospice Foundation has worked closely with the Department of Health & Children and the HSE to develop the Children’s Hospice Home Care Programme which offers support to families and professionals who are caring for seriously ill children in their own homes.

“Thanks to Helena Goodwin and her colleagues at Learning for Life who provided such a great setting for event. Thanks also to Irene Gunning and the representatives from Early Childhood Ireland who helped to organise everything on the day, and thanks most of all to the local children who made the launch so special”.
