Fitzgerald attends launch of new Ireland-UAE training programme at Weston Airport Lucan

Local TD Frances Fitzgerald, Minister for Justice & Equality, today spoke at the launch of the new training programme between College Ireland Aviation Services (CIAS) and Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, at Lucan’s Weston Airport.

Under this programme, Etihad Airways and CIAS will collaborate to develop and offer a series of specialised aviation and executive development programs to UAE nationals currently employed across the airline’s various departments.

The programmes will be jointly conducted at Etihad Airways’ state-of-the-art Training Academy in Abu Dhabi with the English language training taking place in Ireland

Speaking at the launch, Minister Fitzgerald said:

“This important partnership will not only secure jobs, but will also give a boost to the local economy around Weston. The project underlines the strong and growing relationship between Ireland and the UAE.

“This is an important business development, but it also presents a timely opportunity to deepen the cultural exchange between our nations. The Etihad cadets will stay with Irish families during their stay in Ireland, offering them an opportunity to act as ambassadors for their own country while also learning about ours”.
