Fitzgerald encourages local youth projects to apply for new grant scheme

Local TD Frances Fitzgerald, Minister for Justice & Equality, has today (3rd November) urged local groups and centres which run youth projects to apply for the Government’s new refurbishment capital  grants.

She said:

“Today’s announcement of €500,000 capital funding for youth projects in disadvantaged communities is welcome news and should be a boon to suitable projects around the country.

“In my own area, there are a great number of excellent youth projects which make a real difference to the lives of local young people. I have interacted with these organisations on many occasions, both in my capacity as local TD but also in my previous role as Minister for Children & Youth Affairs. I will personally contact them and encourage them to apply for these grants.

“The provision of the funding underscores the Government’s  commitment  to enhance the quality of services which add such value to our communities.”

“Grants will be available for the up-grade or replacement of equipment, for
example, computer/software updates, sports equipment, multi-media
equipment, furnishing upgrades. Details of the scheme and how to apply are
available on the Department of Children and Youth Affairs website at www.dcya.gov.ie”.
