Fitzgerald lauds Government investment in local services for young people

-       Department of Children Lottery funding totalling €55,000 allocated to services benefiting children and young people in Clondalkin, Lucan& Palmerstown

Local TD Frances Fitzgerald, Minister for Justice & Equality, has welcomed the announcement of Government funding for a number of local clubs and services “doing excellent work to promote the mental and physical wellbeing of young people in our area”.

She said:

“We are fortunate in our area to have a great number of sports clubs, associations and services doing great work with young people. As a local TD, and indeed in my previous role as Minister for Children & Youth Affairs, I have seen first-hand the many and varied ways they contribute to the lives of the youngest members of our community.

“This funding is both a recognition of the work already done by these groups, and an endorsement of their future plans. Having these services in the heart of our community adds so much to the quality of life of our young people, and this Government investment is a reflection of that ongoing work.

“I have supported these groups for many years, and will continue to do so in the future.  It should also be noted that this type of investment is only possible because of the improving economic situation, which allows Government more flexibility to support the community services our young people deserve”.

The funding has been allocated as follows:

Marie Keating Foundation - €15,000

Beacon of Light Counselling Centre – €10,000

Recreate – €10,000

Quarryvale Family Resource Centre - €8,000

Palmerstown Boxing Club – €5,000

Aspen Counselling – €5,000

Knockmitten Community Centre – €2,000
