Fitzgerald welcomes commitment for 2015 funding for Balgaddy Child & Family Centre

Local TD Frances Fitzgerald, Minister for Justice & Equality, has today (20th January) welcomed the commitment by Tusla, the national Child and Family Agency, to provide funding for the Balgaddy Child & Family Centre for 2015.

She said:

“In October last, I facilitated the visit to Balgaddy Child & Family Centre of Gordon Jeyes, CEO of Tusla, the national Child and Family Agency, in order to assess the best and most viable options for maintaining the Centre's important role in the local community.

“I am delighted that the discussions initiated at this meeting have now led to a commitment from Tusla to provide core funding for the Centre in 2015. Coming under the auspices of Tusla also means that the Centre is well placed to thrive in 2016 and beyond.

“I am very pleased that this commitment has been made. Tusla will now work with the staff and management of Balgaddy to finalise all the necessary details.

“The range of work carried out at the Balgaddy Child & Family Centre is something I have admired and supported since its inception.  The services and supports provided are vital for the local community in a great variety of ways.

“I will continue to work with the staff and board of the Balgaddy Child & Family Centre in order to give this important facility every chance to build on its already-vital role in the community”.
