Local TD and Minister for Justice Frances Fitzgerald welcomed her Fine Gael colleague and Minister for State at the Department of Arts, Heritage and Gaeltacht Affairs, with special responsibility for Gaeltacht Affairs to Clondalkin’s Áras Chrónáin this week.
Speaking about the visit Minister Fitzgerald said “I was delighted to welcome Minister Mc Hugh to Áras Chrónáin this week. The Minister had a tour of the Áras where he was shown all of the facilities and services the Áras provide. Manager Brian O' Gaibhin gave a short presentation outlining the history and development of the Áras, and the growth of Muintir Chrónáin in the area.
"Clearly, through the expansion of Áras Chrónáin and the dedication of the Muintir Chronain, we now have a wide range of educational, recreation and cultural opportunities in the Clondalkin area.
“The Minister spoke to a number of board members, parents and principals of the three local Gaelscoileanna, who work closely with the Aras to strengthen Irish in our area. Their dedication to the Irish culture and language is recognised and acknowledged by both myself and Minister McHugh.
“The Minister discussed the future of Irish in Clondalkin, and the continued effort by the community to gain ‘Líonra Gaeilge’ for Clondalkin. I remain supportive of this initiative and hope to see the use of the Irish language continuing to be promoted in the wider Clondalkin area.”
