Following the
allocation of the funding to each Local Authority area last July, an
application process was then overseen by Local Community Development Committees
around the country.
Commenting on the
news, Deputy Fitzgerald said:
“I am delighted to confirm that my colleague, Minister
Ring, has allocated funding to nine Men’s Sheds across South Dublin.
“I am particularly pleased to confirm that Lucan Men’s Shed
and Clondalkin Men’s Shed – both in my own constituency of Dublin Mid-West –
were awarded €2,500 and €1,530 respectively.
“Men’s Sheds are a valuable facility. In recent years
they have become a fixture of life in towns and villages throughout Ireland.
They offer a safe, comfortable and inclusive environment where men of all ages
can share skills, work on meaningful projects and connect with their communities.
“I welcome the Department’s decision and look forward to
continuing my support of these important local amenities.”
