Fitzgerald Raises Scoil Mhuire’s 5th Green Flag

Clondalkin School the First in West Dublin to Earn their 5th Green Flag

Local T.D. and Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Frances Fitzgerald, joined Scoil Mhuire in Clondalkin as they celebrated their 5th flag in the Green-Schools Initiative.

The school, which has been participating in the Green Flag Initiative for the past 10 years, won their 5th flag for bio-diversity. This makes Scoil Mhuire the first school in West Dublin to be awarded the flag but also the first school within the Presentation Order’s patronage who have received the honour.

“Scoil Mhuire is certainly blazing a trail for other schools to follow in Clondalkin. The pupils, the Green School Committee as well as the principal, Ms Burke- Henehan, supervising teachers Ms Gelens and Ms McMahon and caretaker Paul, have done fantastic work in making the school more eco-friendly. It just goes to show what we can achieve when we all pull together and the presentation of this flag is a reward for all that cooperation and hard work,” said Minister Fitzgerald
