Fitzgerald Surprises Youth Groups in Ronanstown CYC to Join in their Celebrations for Youth Participation Day

Eleven youth groups from right across Dublin were treated to a surprise special guest during their Youth Participation Day Celebrations in Ronanstown CYC on Friday (Nov 2nd) when Children’s Minister Frances Fitzgerald dropped by .

The groups, which included Lucan CYC, Clondalkin CYC and Ronansotwn CYC, were joining forces to participate in a Global Justice Development Workshop and to showcase their projects on everything from women’s rights to Chernobyl. Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Frances Fitzgerald, was the surprise special guest who met with the young people and their youth leaders. The positive initiative by CYC was supported by the National Youth Council of Ireland. The Minister was delighted to learn that those in attendance had voted on a mock Children’s Referendum.

“It’s great to be here and see the fantastic work of so many young people and the committed volunteers involved in their clubs and projects. I know you ran a mock Children’s Referendum here today and I hope that your resounding endorsement of it is a sign of things to come. It’s so important that we don’t become complacent and that everyone casts their ballots on Saturday next,” said Minister Frances Fitzgerald.
