Webinar: Putting Care at the heart of Europe, Thursday 3 December, 12.00 IST
Together with Frances Fitzgerald MEP and Eurofound, we are delighted to invite you to our next upcoming online event that will look at the development of a European Care Strategy and the situation of carers and those who are cared for in Ireland and Europe. The online event will take place on Thursday 3 December at 12.00 IST (13.00 CET).
Frances Fitzgerald MEP will chair the discussion, discussing her current work to develop a ‘European Care Strategy’ together with Dennis Radtke MEP, who will deliver a keynote address during the online event. We will look at how carers can be supported in their role and ensuring that those who are cared for receive the best quality of care.
The discussion will be opened by Hans Dubois, Research Manager at Eurofound’s social policies unit, who will be setting the scene by outlining the results of a Europe wide survey conducted by Eurofound on the impact of long term care. Thereafter, contributions from the below panel will take place followed by a Q&A with the audience:
· Mary Butler TD, Minister of State with responsibility for Mental Health and Older People
· John Dunne, CEO Family Carers Ireland and former President of Eurocarers
· Orla O’Connor, Director NWCI
· Stecy Yghemonos, Executive Director Eurocarers
The COVID-19 crisis has necessitated a review and reconsideration of how we view care work and care services within our society, the majority of which are delivered by women. The discussion will highlight the experience of carers and those who are cared for throughout the pandemic and focus on what can be done at EU level by developing a European Care Strategy.
The online event will take place via the Livestorm platform. Prior registration is essential.
